Japan Design
We support the passing on of Japanese beauty to the next generation.
I would like to carefully pass on to the next generation the beautiful old houses that remain in the countryside and the traditional techniques that have been handed down through the generations. I will propose new ways to utilize traditional craft techniques and think about ways to incorporate traditional crafts into spaces.
Reuse of old buildings
Case study: Changing the purpose of a house and reusing it as a restaurant
The solid wood for the bar counter was brought in from Toyama.

Demolition and partial reinforcement leaving columns and beams intact

old housing
Latest equipment such as underfloor heating installed invisibly
New use as a restaurant!

Proposing new uses for traditional crafts
Example: Usuki ware used as flower lighting

Through repeated trial and error
